Founders
The Museum at the Mill was founded in June of 2007 by Gary Demers and Katherine Honey. As founders, Gary, owner of the Dodgeville Mill and president of Dodge Mill Realty, LLC, and Katherine Honey, president of the Museum at the Mill, contribute resources to support the operation and development of the Museum.
Mill and Museum Development Plan
Presently, Gary Demers, is developing a plan to prepare the Mill to meet building code that will allow the general public to attend programs at the space in the Mill designated for the Museum. Katherine Honey collaborates with organizations to present programs that parallel the Museum’s mission. Presently, programs for the general public are not presented inside the Museum space but are offered outside on the grounds of the Dodgeville Mill or at host sites such as Bristol Community College in Attleboro.
Administrative Offices
Gary Demers, owner of the Dodgeville Mill, provides space for the Museum’s administrative offices. Windows look out onto the magnificent Mill and the offices are spacious and beautifully designed.
Dodge Mill Realty, LLC & Museum at the Mill
Garry Demers owns the Dodgeville Mill. His goal is to preserve the mill for posterity. The mill complex will be developed to create an inviting business environment. Katherine will work with Gary and the Museum’s Board of Directors to establish the Museum at the Mill. This partnership will allow Dodge Mill Realty, LLC to provide rental space for businesses that may serve visitors to the museum and/or those that want to be located in an historic environment.
The museum will be integral to the development of the mill space and businesses will complement the mission of the museum. Revenues generated by space rented by businesses will provide some of the financial resources needed to maintain the mill. Gary plans to create a Dodgeville Mill Trust to ensure that the mill is preserved while providing income for his family.
Museum programs and exhibits are modeled on the work of Katherine Honey. Throughout her professional career Katherine has focused on the development of practices that support the achievement of all children and adults and the collaboration of diverse organizations and groups. Along with her organizational development and management skills, Katherine brings the collaborator base and the good will associated with her work. Collaborators include local, regional, and national organizations.
